Carriers check three things on your website before they approve your texting: a privacy policy, SMS terms, and consent wording by your forms. Type your business name once, copy all three, and you’re done.

Three things to add to your website

Three things to add to your website

Before carriers approve your business texting, a reviewer visits your website. If any form on it asks for a phone number, they look for the three things below. Type your details once, copy each piece, and paste it where the step tells you to.

What you’ll add

What you’ll add

1

A privacy policy that covers texting

Add our SMS section to the policy you already have, or publish it as a new page.

2

SMS terms (recommended)

A short section or page: what you text about, how often, and how to stop.

3

Consent wording by every form that asks for a phone number

One sentence next to the submit button, linked to your policy and terms.

Your details

Type them once. All three pieces below fill in as you go, and anything you skip stays in [BRACKETS] so it’s easy to spot after you paste.

Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere. It only fills in the text on this page.

1

Add the SMS section to your privacy policy

Add the SMS section to your privacy policy

Already have a privacy policy? Paste this in as a new section called “SMS” or “Text messaging.” Don’t have one? Create a new page called Privacy Policy, paste this in, and link it from your site’s footer so it’s reachable from every page.

Keep section 4 exactly as written

“We do not sell, rent, or share SMS opt-in data or consent with third parties for marketing” is the promise reviewers look for. Change anything else to fit your business, but leave that section alone — and make sure nothing else in your policy contradicts it.

SMS Privacy Policy

Last updated: [DATE]

This policy explains how [BUSINESS NAME] (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information connected to text messages. It applies to texts you exchange with us and to phone numbers you give us on [WEBSITE URL], over the phone, or in person.

1. Information we collect

When you text or call us, fill out a form, or request service, we collect your phone number, your name if you provide it, and the content and history of the messages we exchange with you.

2. How we use your information

We use this information to reply to service requests, answer scheduling questions, confirm appointments, send arrival and status updates, and follow up after a job.

3. How you opt in

You may opt in by calling or texting us, by submitting a form that includes SMS consent, or by giving verbal or written consent when you request service. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase.

4. We do not sell or share SMS consent

SMS opt-in data and consent are used only to provide the text messaging you signed up for. We do not sell, rent, or share this information with any third party for marketing purposes or for purposes unrelated to providing our SMS program. All categories of data sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent.

5. Service providers

We use service providers, including our business phone platform and telecommunications carriers, to send and receive text messages. They may process phone numbers and message history only to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and support our messaging.

6. Message frequency and rates

Message frequency varies based on your service requests and appointments. Message and data rates may apply.

7. Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from us. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL OR PHONE].

8. Retention and security

We keep SMS information for as long as needed to serve you and to meet our legal obligations, and we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect it.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time and will change the date above when we do. Questions? Contact [BUSINESS NAME] at [SUPPORT EMAIL OR PHONE].

2

Add SMS terms (recommended)

Add SMS terms (recommended)

Not every reviewer insists on them, but many look, and having them heads off follow-up questions. Paste these below your privacy section or publish them as their own page, and link that from your footer too.

Add consent wording to every phone-number form

Go through your website and find every form with a phone field — contact, quote request, booking, newsletter signup. Right beside each submit button, add the line below and link it to your privacy policy and SMS terms. If you use a consent checkbox, leave it unchecked by default.

Form consent wording

Common questions

Common questions

Doesn’t Ready already host a policy for me?

Yes. When you register in the Trust Center, Ready publishes an SMS privacy policy and SMS terms for your business and includes them with your campaign. Reviewers also look at your own website, though — so if any form on it asks for a phone number, you still need the three things on this page.

Can I add this to the privacy policy I already have?

Yes. Most businesses add it as a section titled “SMS” or “Text messaging.” Just make sure nothing elsewhere in the policy says you share contact information for marketing without carving out SMS consent.

What if my forms don’t ask for a phone number?

Then step 3 doesn’t apply to them — only forms that collect phone numbers need the consent line. The privacy policy and SMS terms are still worth adding, because reviewers look for them either way.

What if I don’t have a website?

Then there’s nothing to add. You can register with a business listing or social page instead — see our carrier registration guide.

Does this cover marketing texts?

No. It’s written for service messages. Promotions and offers need express written consent and their own disclosures, so talk to an attorney before you send them.

Is this legal advice?

No. It’s a starting point that reflects what carrier reviewers look for. Privacy rules vary by state and by what you send, so have an attorney review your final policy.
